‘W’OICE 2023 Brings Women From Aviation And Major Industries

To mark International Women’s Day 2023, Media Fusion conducted the ‘W’OICE Meet-up under the theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality & gender equity.

The underrepresentation of women in STEM education and careers remains a major barrier to their participation in major industries.

The event focused on how digital technology can open horizons for global empowerment of women, other marginalized groups. From gender-responsive digital learning to tech-facilitated healthcare, to tech-enabled workspaces, the digital age represents an unprecedented opportunity to eliminate all forms of inequality, and the creation of a gender equitable space.

“This International Women’s Day, we are bringing together women from four core industrial sectors – Aviation, Built Environment, Commercial Cleaning, Waste & Recycling to highlight their efforts to make the world a more inclusive and more equitable place. Through an array of platforms and initiatives the ‘W’oice platform was conceptualized as a budding eco-system to highlight women achievers and leaders in these sectors. And we are proud to mark its second edition,” said Editor Megha Mary Mathews, from Aviation 360 Magazine.

Dr. Eng. Suaad AlShaamsi, the first female aircraft engineer in the United Arab Emirates, served as the event’s keynote speaker. She emphasized the difficulties facing the aviation sector as well as the advancement of women in the field throughout her remarks. She advocated for equal possibilities for leadership positions as well as the significance of women’s stigmatized mental health. As the government stated its intention to plant 100 million mangroves by the year 2030, Eng Suaad Al Shamsi developed a plan to reduce the airline’s carbon footprint and combat global warming.

The event also featured a screening of the short film Cash, which has an all-female cast and a strong message about technology as well as the collective bargaining power that women may have. Additional sessions included a survey along with activities from the event’s partners, Engie Solutions and Imdaad. Other supporting partners included BK Gulf, AG Facilities Solutions, Irec Holdings, Facilio, and Ejadah Asset Management Group.
