Pieter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, expressed excitement over the launch of the inaugural flight connecting Mumbai and Nairobi. This flight marks IndiGo’s debut in the African subcontinent, and the choice of Nairobi as the destination is particularly fitting. Nairobi, renowned for its captivating wildlife and historical landmarks, is actively focused on bolstering its economic growth through avenues such as tourism, cultural exchange, and interdisciplinary cooperation. This perfectly aligns with IndiGo’s overarching mission of facilitating accessibility and uniting individuals with diverse locales. The introduction of this novel route serves to reinforce regional connectivity in accordance with IndiGo’s international expansion strategy.
Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, added, “Aligned with our aviation development policy, our objective is to establish a more efficient and accessible air travel network, both within Kenya and extending beyond its borders. IndiGo Air’s direct flights between Mumbai and Nairobi seamlessly align with this vision, offering smooth connectivity and elevating the overall travel experience for our citizens and visitors alike.”
