Following hours of mayhem that led in the cancellation of dozens of flights, British Airways has stated that its IT systems are “back up and running,” but there may still be “intermittent issues.”
On Thursday, the airline cancelled more than 50 departures and more than 20 arrivals, and some passengers on Friday received delays and cancellation notifications as well.
Just before 11.30 p.m., BA said on Twitter that its systems were “back up and running,” but that there “may still be intermittent issues.”
It had earlier responded to inquiries in the early hours of Friday by stating that it was “aware of a technical issue, which we have been working hard to fix”.
The cancellations are unrelated to the security guards’ three-day protest at the airport over salary, according to a Heathrow Airport official.
Romanian recruiter Sorina Anastasiu, 33, will not make it to her June wedding; she is currently based in London.
She was flying home to complete the paperwork because the law there compels couples to get their marriage legalized 14 days before to the wedding.
