Imagine a flying museum that transports you back to the World War Era.
The AirPower History Tour is a flying museum that transports the sights and sounds of World War II aircraft to airports all around the country. This weekend, the tour made stop at Pensacola, Florida.
At Pensacola International Airport, the B-29/B-24 Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force staged the event while flying the B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil,” one of the most uncommon World War II aircraft.
The trip will continue in Shreveport, Louisiana, after Sunday.
“It’s a flying museum,” Stephen Glenn, B-29/B-24 Squadron Stearman pilot said. “When we grew up as children, we got to see these planes fly. We want to pass that on to future generations to let them see them fly, and not just sit in a museum some place.”
The Commemorative Air Force’s B-29/B-24 Squadron is located in Dallas, Texas, where they will then return.
